SMIPA: Accounting Skills Assessment changes
Changes announced by the Professional Accounting Associations (CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants and National Institute of Australia) on July 1st mean that graduates from Australian Accounting degrees now have 2 options for obtaining a Full Skills Assessment.
Skilled Migration Internship Program: Accounting (SMIPA) can now be used as an alternative pathway to achieving your Full Skills Assessment, avoiding the need for IELTS 7.0. Find out more by downloading our ‘SMIPA update’ below.
Changes to the Skilled Occupation List
The new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) was confirmed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship on July 1st.
For the Professional Year Programs & SMIPA, all occupations previously covered by the current SOL are included in the new SOL, even though they will have a new Skills Assessment code and title due to the change to a new code system. Therefore, all current and future students can confidently enrol in the Professional Year and SMIPA programs as their circumstances remain unchanged for eligibility.
